She looked at me with knowing eyes
And answered my expression.
She saw my haunted look I had
the hidden threat - depression. 

There were so many babies and
I wanted to be perfect
She could see the trying on my face
And said with all respect:

“Life is a struggle” that was all
but with it came a smile.
She knew I needed that one truth
to think upon awhile. 

You see it isn’t just as if
the answer is a simple fix
and much of life is just that way
a daily “taking captive” mix.

And struggles. it just is
